Historic-Jamestown, Virginia - Experience the story of America's beginnings at Jamestown Settlement.

Today at Jamestown Settlement, the story of the English colonists is told through film, exhibits and living history.

Gallery exhibits and introductory film explores Jamestown's beginnings and describes the cultures of the Powhatan Indians.

Outdoors, visitors can board replicas of the three ships that sailed from England to Virginia in 1607, also visitors can explore the life-size re-creations of the colonist's fort and Powhatan village. As you walk through the history, costumed historical interpreters describe and demonstrate daily life in the early 17th century.


Jamestown Settlement Highlights of the area

Powhatan Indian Village
Explore the Powhatan way of life in a re-created village featuring reed-covered houses, crops and ceremonial posts.
Historical interpreters discuss and demonstrate the Powhatan way of life, prepare food, make tools and potery, and weave natural fibers into cordage.

Film & Galleries
Documentry film, 1607: A Nation Takes Root, shown every 30 minutes in the museum theater. A 30,000 square-feet gallery exhibits hundreds of objects from 17th century Europe and Africa.

Jamestown Settlement Ships
The Susan Constant, Godspeed and Discovery - re-creations of three ships that brought English colonists to Virgnia. Visitors can board the ships and explore all aspects of the ships.

Historic-Jamestown is located on Route 31 South, adjacent to Jamestown Settlement just 10 minutes away from the area of Williamsburg.
