City of Virginia Beach

City of Virginia Beach is located in the Hampton Roads metropolitan region of Virginia, by the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, and is the most populous city in Virginia and also the forty first largest city within the United States, with an estimated population of 440,415.

This beautiful city is one of America's hottest and most fashionable destinations featuring sandy beaches, attractions and much more. As per Guinness Book of Records Virginia Beach is listed as having the longest pleasure beach in the world.

This newely developed town center boasts nice shops, upscale restaurants, massage places and so much more. Within the town center you will also find Sandler Center of Performing Arts, featuring musical events all year long.

Virginia Beach is home to many sites of historical importance, and has 18 sites on the National Register of Historic Places. Some of the sites include Adam Thoroughgood House ( one of the oldest surviving colonial homes in Virginia) , Cape Henry where the three ships made their first landfall in the New World in 1607, U.S. Old Coast Guard Station and many more. Later on the Englishmen created their first permanent settlement at Historic Jamestown Settlement.

The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center is a popular aquarium near the oceanfront that features the 300,000-gallon Norfolk Canyon Aquarium.

Contemporary Art Center of Virginia features events and exhibitions from the Boardwalk Art Show collections.

Virgina Beach Amphitheater , features a wide variety of popular shows and concerts.

It is the oldest existing church of English foundation in America and the nation's only surviving Gothic building.

It forms a unique bridge between the early civilization of our country and the rich culture of Medieval England.

Its structure reflects the architectural and spiritual descendents of the great Gothic cathedrals of England. Among the Gothic features are buttresses, stepped gables, brick-traceried windows, and the medieval tie-beam timber interior roof structure. The design and joinery of the interior architecture is exquisite and represents highly skilled craftsmanship.

Every year city celebrates its heritage link with Norway , events are held in September at the Oceanfront and Town Center areas.

Every August, the American Music Festival provides festival attendees with live music performed on stages all over the Oceanfront, including the beach on Fifth Street. The festival ends with the Rock and Roll Half Marathon.
